WHY WE SHOULD KEEP THE SABBATH DAY OF REST

A PLEA TO GOD'S PEOPLE THAT THEY REST ON SATURDAY, and KEEP IT HOLY

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ;  written with all respect,concerning  the LORD's DAY of worship, and the SABBATH DAY of rest.  They are not the same day. Keeping Sunday honors GOD, but it does not fulfill the SABBATH (Seventh Day) Commandment of Rest.

There is nothing wrong with meeting together on Sunday, first day of the week to honor our LORD and worship HIM on that day (I prefer to worship HIM on every day).  It is good to gather with other like minded Believers.  BUT,.this is not a substitute for keeping the SABBATH Day.  It has nothing to do with the 4th commandment.  It was the Roman church that sanctified Sunday as the day of worship, as it was on a Sunday that Jesus resurrected and on a Sunday that the Holy Spirit was sent to earth, on Pentecost.  The 4th Commandment was not about the day of worship, but about the Seventh Day of Rest from all labors, trying to keep it holy.  Worshiping on Sunday, does not mean we don't have to still obey the 4th Commandment.  If we attempt to make the 1st day the 7th, we risk becoming part of the beast system which seeks to change TIME and LAW!  The 4th Commandment of GOD (given to all peoples as demonstration of HIS WILL for mankind) is all about TIME AND LAW!  The Vatican, not wanting to be accused of being a part of the beast system, says they did not change the Sabbath day, it is still the 7th day.  They just sanctified the 1st day to be the Day of the Lord, for worship.  They do not claim to know which Pope did that.  They do however give their Popes in their laws, the power to change time!  (Interesting!)

  • The Word of God says:
    Daniel 7:25, "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and
    think to change times and laws
    : and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time."
  • The word of Rome says:
    "The Pope has the power to change times, to abrogate laws, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ.""The Pope has the authority and often exercised it, to dispense with the command of Christ."
    -Decretal, de Tranlatic Episcop. Cap. (The Pope can modify divine law.) Ferraris' Ecclesiastical Dictionary.

Matthew 5:17-19- Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass,(Rev.21:1 tells us when it passes away) one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Mark 7:7and Matthew 15:9- But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Matthew 19:17- And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments

John 14:15- If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1 John 3:22- And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. (If we willing trespass HIS WILL for us, will HE be quick to hear our requests?  Is that why the latter day churches have lost much of their power?)

1 John 3:24- And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Revelation 12:17- And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep thecommandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 22:14- Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Ecclesiastes 12:13- Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. (Do you really think GOD has changed since the Old Testament?  Jesus gave us a GIFT of love and sacrifice.  HE, when HE came with HIS OFFERING SACRIFICE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE for us, was a free will choice for each person to take freely and add to the duties they strive to  keep, making those duties so much easier to endure, knowing what comes at the end of the WAY if we are able to sacrifice ourselves, sacrifice our will, for HIS, which is the same as the FATHER's   Without the 10 Commandments and Jesus' teachings, we would not know when we should repent of something.  We would not know when we were not doing our duties for our Master.  Jesus illustrated the 10 Commandments for us.  We should follow HIM and not what man decrees.)

Jesus, when asked about the Kingdom of Heaven (the new ETERNAL heaven and earth that comes after the final judgement at the end of the 1,000 years of Jesus earthly rule) taught the parable of the wedding for the king's son.

Math 22:2,12- The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,…...  And he (the king) saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he(the friend) was speechless. (Scripture goes on to say this man got tossed out).  I know the interpretations that man has given this scripture.  I wonder tho, could the wedding garment be our striving to be obedient to the 10 Commandments?  By attending the wedding we affirmed our belief in the kings son, as we would not have attended if we did not believe the son existed.  So to me, it is not about our Testimony of Faith in Jesus.  Is it enough to say, "Oh yes, I believe in Jesus and I accept GOD's invitation to enter HIS Kingdom for the wedding, so I shall" ?  There is scripture that teaches if we don't follow HIS Commandments we have taken HIS name in vain. 1st john 3:24; Mark 7:7; Math 19:19; Math 15:9; Rev 22:14, just to name a few of many.  Should we try to clothe ourselves appropriately as GOD desires, until HE, HIMSELF gives us our white linens?  Should we try to do our duty, dressing appropriately for the feast, not leaving out any piece of the earthly clothing that GOD said we should wear?

What is a TRUE BELIEVER?  Do we gamble on man's teaching of the WAY of CHRIST,.or do we each earnestly study the words and revelations that GOD gave us, with humbleness, knowing that we are not worthy on our own capabilities, always earnestly asking the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to us, and ever stay with us on this journey of learning the nature of GOD?  Me….I will never put my trust in man, and rest on the commandments of man, ritually attend a church on Sunday, judge those who do not,  and think that is what will get me into the Kingdom of GOD.  I will show my love for HIM by studying diligently the Words HE has given us, and the creations HE has surrounded us with, in order to know HIM more and more and more, and try to conform my behavior to HIM.  The Bible clearly teaches that we are not to put our trust in man, that is why JESUS sent us the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.so that the POPE, or no other man, could lead us astray.  IF our first priority is our love, and trust in Yeshua, over and above all others who have came to earth or will come, we will not be tempted, and we will be delivered from evil when it comes.

Revelation 22:14- Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.(This is the city that is 1,500 miles cubed that descends upon the new earth, when earth has been restored back into GOD's KINGDOM eternal. )

HISTORY OF THE CHANGE of LAW THAT MAN, NOT GOD, BROUGHT ABOUT.

According to Wikipedia;  In the first centuries, Sunday, being made a festival in honor of Christ's resurrection, received attention as a day of religious services and recreation, but seventh-day Sabbath rest was still observed by "almost all churches".(This is how I believe it should be done in order to keep the 10 Commandments).  Often first-day worship (Sunday morning or Saturday night) was practiced alongside observance of seventh-day Sabbath rest and was a widespread Christian tradition by the 2nd century, attested in patristic writings of the 2nd century; over time, Sunday thus came to be known as Lord's Day. These early Christians believed that the resurrection and ascension of Christ signals the renewal of creation, making the day on which God accomplished it a day analogous to the first day of creation when God made the light. Some of these writers referred to Sunday as the "eighth day". (Nothing wrong with this practice or thought, as long as it doesn't do away with the Sabbath (Saturday) REST.)

The 1st-century or 2nd-century Epistle of Barnabas or Pseudo-Barnabas stated "Sabbaths of the present age" were abolished in favor of one millennial seventh-day Sabbath that ushers in the "eighth day" and commencement of a new world. Accordingly, the eighth-day assembly (Saturday night or Sunday morning) marks both the resurrection and the new creation. Thus first-day observance was a common regional practice at that time.

(Claudia points out that on Saturday evening the Sabbath Rest is over!  God's day starts at sunset and ends at the next sunset.  Dark to Light!)  By the mid-2nd century, Justin Martyr wrote in his apologies about the cessation of Sabbath observance and the celebration of the first (or eighth) day of the week (not as a day of rest, but as a day for gathering to worship): "We all gather on the day of the sun" (τ το Ηλίου λεγομένη μέρ, recalling both the creation of light and the resurrection). He argued that Sabbath was not kept before Moses, (Uh Duh!!!!, perhaps that is why GOD revealed to HIS prophet Moses, what HE wanted mankind to do!  Mankind  had strayed far away, in many directions, and often!) and was only instituted as a sign to Israel and a temporary measure because of Israel's sinfulness, no longer needed after Christ came without sin. Curiously he also draws a parallel between the Israelite practice of circumcision on the eighth day, and the resurrection of Jesus on the "eighth day".(You see.it was MAN who attempts to change God's laws, according to their understandings.  In the same way they now try to sanctify homosexuality!  We are in the 6th Seal Spirit, The Spirit of Man, and Man is slowly trying to replace…CUT OFF…..God's Wisdom and Will for mankind, and even cut off the Belief in Jesus.  This 6th Seal Spirit was released upon the earth after the 5th Seal Spirit (which was the Spirit of Jesus as the LAMB/Martyr Sacrifice) and the spirit of man can pervert the TRUTH as it was given by JESUS.  Man's will being put over the WILL OF GOD.  PS: The scroll that the Roman church defined as one of judgment, which no scripture supports, is the SCROLL OF RESTORATION which releases the 7 Spirit Eyes of GOD upon the earth to witness and mark the tares, and the righteous for their ultimate end . John cried because no one could be found worthy of opening it.  He would not have cried if judgment could not be unleashed upon man.)

On 3 March 321, Constantine I decreed that Sunday (dies Solis) will be observed as the Roman day of rest [CJ3.12.2]:

On the venerable day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country however persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits because it often happens that another day is not suitable for grain-sowing or vine planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost.[29]

Constantine's decree was most likely modeled on pagan sun worship, though it is probable that he also intended to benefit the church, which already met for worship on Sunday.[14] Some[who?] theorize that, because the practice favored the Christian day of worship, it also helped the church to avoid implicit association with the Jews. (My note: Not surprising, as God told HIS prophets that the Jews would be a stumbling block for man.) Eusebius, in Life of Constantine, claims Constantine stated: "Let us then have nothing in common with the detestable Jewish crowd; for we have received from our Saviour a different way." (My Note:  Yes…..MAN's way….6th Seal Spirit which helps mark the tares!  Jesus kept the Sabbath.)

EXODUS 20: 1-11  COMMANDMENTS ON HOW TO LOVE AND FEAR GOD

And God spake all these words, saying,  I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

1=Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

2=Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

3=Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

4=Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

EXODUS 20: 12-  COMMANDMENTS ON HOW TO LOVE HUMANS

5=Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

6=Thou shalt not kill.

7=Thou shalt not commit adultery.

8=Thou shalt not steal.

9=Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

10=Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

I sincerely hope that all those who have the Testimony of Jesus will consider it important to strive to keep HIS commandments and not change any one of them, as Jesus made it clear that HE did not come to change a dot or dash of them at this time.  But, at a later date when the new heaven and new earth has been established which is discussed in Rev. 21.1.  Mathew was taught, ONE on one, with Jesus, and Mathew gave us the words that Jesus spoke concerning this matter.  HE came to start the fulfillment of the law/WAY, which ends after HIS 1,000 year reign on earth with mankind.  This "1,000 years" is not the church age.as some men have defined.  It has been well over 1,000 years since man formed the church organizations in their many and varied ways of attempting to follow Jesus.  The Body of Christ is the CHURCH, not the churches of man.  The HOLY SPIRIT gives each individual (those that have the Holy Spirit in them because of their Faith in Jesus) access to HIS CHURCH.  It is the APPOINTED TIME that has been set and decreed by the FATHER that now restrains the 7th Seal from being taken off of the Scroll of Restoration which ushers in the DAY OF THE LORD, HIS KINGDOM COME.  When it is removed there will be a great shaking, and than a pause as some are Sealed for their protection.  Than evil will abound unrestrained, because GOD has stopped striving with man and given (for a short time) man over to man.  "You want your way, instead of my WAY?  It is yours!  Let's see the accumulated affect of your rule!" The trumpet battles commence with the holy people….. (Israel, in scripture were often referred to as the holy people,as GOD had hoped they would be HIS Light spread upon the world.  But, they failed HIM and went their own way, just as many of the churches of man have done.)…… winning the first four trumpet battles, and satan and his followers (beast and false prophet who changes times and law) winning the 5th and 6th trumpet events, bringing demons upon the earth, etc. and succeeding in overcoming the holy people (Israel).  This could mean they are deceived and accept the false one, or that they are conquered, or both, except for a remnant.  Dan. 9 explains that it takes 1,260 days for this to happen, ( the Two Witnesses are witnessing for the Truth during this time also).  On the 1,290th day the Abomination occurs, and those who are patient and wait until the 1,335th day will be blessed!  (I figure that is when the 7th trump sounds the Authority of Jesus over the world, bringing on the first resurrection, including the Two Witnesses, the "change" in a twinkling of the Believers who are alive, and than the coming WRATH cleansing with fire, and the 7th battle,Armeggedon.  Than the 1,000 year rule of Christ on earth.  Than the Final Judgement, than the new heaven and new earth…RESTORED.  ALPHA AND OMEGA, the WORK of the Scroll that only the LAMB could operate!  The one I willingly die for, all my will for HIS!

Matthew 5:17-19- Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass,(Rev.21:1) one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

 God bless you.,…it is all about the ending!

Your unworthy sister in CHRIST (the only man who was, who is, and who will be always WORTHY!).  I follow JESUS, not Constantine, Justin Martyr, the Pope, or any man who has changed God's laws. (We are taught to put our trust in no man, only the LORD.)

Claudia

Zephaniah: 2:2-3- Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD's anger come upon you.  Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, (This was not just about the Hebrews!)which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD's anger.

The "decree" above was set long ago before the foundations of the earth.  It is the appointed time for the 7th Seal to be removed.
