GENESIS  (My understanding and opinion from reading only the Bible and ever seeking God's TRUTH through the HOLY SPIRIT in as much as I can remove myself from the dialogue....not from understandings gathered from the traditions and teaching and writings of men.....none of these opinions, except those that reflect the DOCTRINES OF CHRIST contribute to salvation. )
Genesis 1:1=In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
The perfect God created earth in verse one which was probably inhabited by the Spirit Children of God, along with Satan/the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.  Many of these Children were taken over by the Darkness of evil that was in Satan's mind.  Satan's selfish pursuit of knowledge and self glory...contrary to God's Will.... introduced sin and led to the rebellion that caused the void and the darkness upon the face of the deep that was once the earth created in Genesis 1:1.
Genesis 1:2=And the earth was (a possibly more accurate translation may have translated the Hebrew "was"  as "had become".) without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.  And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
When the freewill of God's created children followed their own pursuits encouraged by Satan on original earth it resulted in chaos upon the earth and either they destroyed their earth or God judged and destroyed all forms of life upon the earth leaving it void and formless.....except for the spiritual existence....Satan and God's Children still existing in the Spirit. 
Genesis 1:3=And God said, Let there be Light: and there was Light.  Genesis 1:4=And God saw the light that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. Genesis 1:5= And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.  And the evening and the morning were the first day. 
This first day may well have been when The Father, using Jesus Christ the LIGHT reactivated the earth with heat/energy and started the process of renewing and reforming the earth.  The Light....Jesus Christ....also separated the Darkness (Satan) from the Light via the contrast in their Spirits....Christ being all Light in line with God's Will which is GOOD (1st John 1:5) and Satan being all Dark in line with his own evil selfish will which is EVIL. Here is created the division and God's judgment between Good and Evil.  Satan had been given an opportunity to demonstrated his fruits....and they were evil.  There are Biblical verses where God states He created Evil....I believe that He is referring to this stage of creation....the one that left the original earth void and without form.  This division of the darkness, by Jesus Christ.. the LIGHT... begins the first of 6 days (1,000 year periods) which restore the earth that was destroyed by Satan.  This is the ALPHA (First Seal) Day riding forth.
Genesis 1:6=And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters and let it divide the waters from the waters.
When God created the LIGHT....the Spirit of Jesus Christ, it was a creation that was totally reflective of, and One with God,...."With God".  The only One.  Starting with verse 6 (6 being the sign of man) and onwards, it is this Spirit of Jesus Christ with God that performs (as God Wills) in the restoration creation of earth (the second "day" completing the creation of the above firmament on through the 6th Day creation of mankind in "Our image". ) ...creating the earth/clay bodies in which the Spirits of God's Children who fell during the first Earth Age have been placed for restoration.  (Psalm 104:30) That restoration comes through wearing and bearing the Yoke of Christ...(and enduring until the en)...which is easy in contrast to all the other "yokes" that man can choose, including Satan's, and man's own yokes of self will, and the yokes of false gods and idols.  The First White Horse Rider in Revelations is the Spirit of Jesus Christ....it is NOT the spirit of the antichrist!  This First Spirit Rider is Jesus Christ (ALPHA) who at this point in Genesis is going forth to conquer the acts and plans of Satan in the past, in the present and in the future....and this Rider rides a white horse of purity and oneness with God....and He carries a bow but no arrow.  Why?  Because His Body is the Arrow that conquers all.....His Sacrifice on the Cross...once and for all.  See REVELATIONS Seals Trumpets Bowls   Christ, the Creator, continues through the 6th Day.....and the Age of Man begins....with Satan interfering at every opportunity.....until finally the 7th Seal is opened by Christ and the process of separating the tares begins.....ending with Christ's return as King of Kings...OMEGA....the First and Last!
